Davis Wind

The Davis Anemometer is an entry level, combined wind speed and direction sensor made from UV-stable ABS plastic. It can connect to a number of Harvest devices and is commonly used on farms, vineyards, and orchards etc. Like all mechanical wind sensors the bearings wear over time and give low wind readings. We recommend replacing this sensor every 3 to 5 years to maintain optimum performance.

For long term accurate wind measurement we recommend one of our ultrasonic wind sensors.

Harvest Ultrasonic Wind Sensor

Harvest Ultrasonic Wind Sensor

The Harvest Ultrasonic wind sensor is a mid priced sensor which measures wind speed and direction up to 60m/s (216 km/hr, 130mph). It has no moving parts so does not suffer bearing wear like mechanical wind sensors. The sensor has SDI-12, RS232 and RS485 interfaces for use on almost any brand of logger. It can do internal averaging to output the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) standard 10 min average and 3 sec gust. The sensor draws 7mA at 12V which makes it suitable for solar power operation.

Gill Windsonic Ultrasonic Wind

Gill Windsonic Ultrasonic Wind

The Gill Windsonic Ultrasonic Wind Sensor is a high-end meteorological grade wind speed and direction sensor made in Europe. It has no moving parts, doesn't require calibration, and the physical design of the sensor means the top protects it from damage (i.e. birds). This sensor is a great fit for applications where met-grade performance is required.
